Just Do It!
I don’t know about you but when I am planning activities for my trips to the Caribbean, I always try to find something to do out of the ordinary…because simply, ordinary can be boring. Why not get out there and meet the locals and do the things they do! I promise you will love it.
Here are few ideas for you to consider for your trip to the Caribbean
1. Boat Races in Anguilla
Held during the first Monday of August this annually organized boat race dating back almost 100 years and is a time of celebration throughout the English speaking territories of the Caribbean, celebrating the passing of the Emancipation Act which was passed in 1883 for the freeing of all slaves under British rule.
This week long party brings out more food and drink than one can imagine. The races are held everyday from different beach so that means it’s a great way to take part in a local tradition as well as discover new parts of the island…priceless.
2. Watching Polo in Barbados
Typically Polo is known as a highbrow sport of people in high standing. Well in Barbados it is the opposite. Polo matches in Barbados is great way to get out and have some fun and meet locals. This is one of those once in a lifetime activities and not to mention…you ARE in Barbados afterall.
Even if Polo is not your cup of tea, it certainly is not something that many people on vacation would think of doing, but I guarantee you will have an awesome time. Bring a cooler relax and enjoy the game!
3. Eco Adventure in the Mayan Riviera
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Mexico. Exactly…All Inclusive Resorts! While that may be the typical way of spending a vacation on the Gulf Coast of Mexico There is so much more! Sitting on the beach all day and eating the same food all week (which is not a bad thing!) but there is way to break it up and get off the resort grounds for some adventure and culture.
In my travels I have had the opportunity to go on a side trip with my new favorite tour company in Playa del Carmen called allTournative Off Track Adventures. Offering Cenote swimming and Rappelling, Zip Lining, Mayan feasts and so much more.
I recommend the Coba and Mayan Encounter option. It was incredible.
The Wrap Up…
Vacation time is meant for relaxing but also for fun and adventure. Look for the activities that will expose you to the local culture and I promise you won’t be disappointed.
Til next time happy travels!
