Many destinations (Antigua, Barbados, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Jamaica, Costa Rica, and many in Mexico and elsewhere throughout the world) offer staffed villas.  For those who’ve never experienced a staffed villa, the thought can sometimes be unnerving…Questions regarding privacy and just how the process works are certainly valid concerns.

The staff at the villas are professionals who take great pride in their jobs and enhancing the guests’ experience. They have truly mastered the art of pampering without intrusion.  It is not unusual for members of staffs to have been at the same villa for 10-20 years. A favorite villa on Jamaica, Villa Lido, has someone who has been on the staff for 40 years.

When guests of Travel Keys rent a villa that includes the services of a staff, their dedicated concierge will arrange to have them pre-stocked for their arrival with their first dinner, breakfast, lunch, snacks, beverages, and alcohol.  That way when the guests arrive, they will feel completely at home.  After their arrival, the guests sit down with the cook or chef and discuss their likes and dislikes as well as any allergies or special requests (gluten free, vegetarian,  etc.).

Indeed, a typical day begins with the staff having the coffee and some fresh fruit out for guests as they wake up and make their way to the breakfast table (which oftentimes in the tropics is a glorious alfresco setting).  As all of the guests are settled, they will enjoy a sumptuous breakfast of their choosing, from the typical bacon and eggs or pancakes to local specialties such as Jamaican ackee and salt fish.  Lunches and dinners are again of the guests choosing and include wonderful homemade soups, salads, fresh grilled fish, lobster, or traditional American fare.  It is fairly common for staffs to prepare separate “child friendly” meals and serve them at times that parents request.

With a staff, there is a housekeeper to take care of every detail and keep the villa immaculate.  The majority of staffed villas will have a laundress who is available to do your personal laundry so you don’t have to pack as much.

Some of the larger villas are also staffed by a butler who oversees all details of a guest’s stay.  He/she will tend bar and is available to make any special arrangements.  There’s truly nothing quite like the experience of a butler coming out to the pool and asking if you’d like some rum punch!

So, if the idea of being completely pampered and never lifting a finger sounds appealing to you, then be sure to ask your villa specialist at Travel Keys to assist you in choosing the perfect staffed villa.  Staffed villas are especially perfect for families with children (imagine no cooking or washing clothes!) or large groups who just want to kick back and relax in the privacy of their own villa with an attentive staff.
